How to help with the 5000 rocket record attempt!

On July 16, 2019, the U.S. Space & Rocket Center will attempt to break Guinness World Record by launching 5,000 model rockets simultaneously. Don’t miss this fun opportunity to celebrate the Apollo anniversary — launch time is set for 8:32 a.m.! For more information, click here.

Interested in volunteering? There are many ways to assist the US Space & Rocket Center in the Guinness World Record Rocket Launch!

They’ll be launching 100 rockets per frame, a pallet like structure that holds 100 rocket each. There will be a total of 50 frames. On launch day, a small team will be sent out to prepare each frame so the staff can efficiently prepare for the countdown!

While there are many opportunities to help, in order to carefully control our process, adult participation only please.

Rocket Construction – we will build rockets in assembly line fashion using a small model rocket that is used for our Space Camp Pathfinder teams. Sessions will last 2-3 hours each. Sessions will last 2-3 hours each.

Frame Assembly – frames consist of 1”x1” and 1”x2” wooden strips. Holes will be pre-drilled to accommodate the igniter and launch rod. Sessions will last 2 hours each.

Frame Wiring – the e-matches are wired in series throughout the frame. This will be completed on-site the weekend prior to the launch. Sessions will be 2-3 hours each.
