Polar Bear Launch<\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

A few HARA members braved the cold to start the new year flying rockets on January 1. Greg, Blake, Patrick, Vince and all the Aguilar<\/span>s<\/span> convened at the Pegasus field for some low power fun. Even as a casual launch there were several interesting flights either on ascent or recovery.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Thanks to Doug and family for hosting a festive get together. The food was great with a house full of rocketeer celebrants. Bill Cooke was Santa Claus bearing wonderful gifts.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Inclement Date<\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

The monthly HARA launch for December was rained out. The next scheduled launch at Woodville is January 13.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

ARC Registration Ends with Participation Up<\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

At the close of registration 12\/1 there were over 900 teams signed up nationally for the <\/span><\/span>American <\/span><\/span>Rocketry Challenge, <\/span><\/span>the most in the program\u2019s 22 year history<\/span><\/span>. Alabama had 34 teams listed which wa<\/span><\/span>s<\/span><\/span> less than the 38 last year, but the Huntsville area <\/span><\/span>number had grown<\/span><\/span> to eleven from the <\/span><\/span>2023 <\/span><\/span>eight <\/span><\/span>teams<\/span><\/span>.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Girl Scouts of North-Central Alabama<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

St. John Paul II <\/span>(4 teams)<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Bob Jones High School<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Note St. John Paul II came in third nationally last year.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

T<\/span><\/span>heir official local qualification flights must be done by April 8 <\/span><\/span>(solar eclipse day) <\/span><\/span>to get flight scores that will earn one of the 100 spots at the National Finals on May 18 and a chance at the program\u2019s $100,000 in prize money.<\/span><\/span> <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
