team america rocketry challenge

Click the above picture to see some movies describing what TARC is all about

Now in its 12th year, the Team America Rocketry Challenge (TARC for short) pits teams of middle and high school students in heated competition designing, building, and flying a rocket capable of meeting a specific goal. This year, the goal is to fly 2 raw, Grade A eggs to 825 feet and land them safely 48 to 50 seconds after launch. Sound simple? It does... but it ain’t easy, especially given that you have to be mighty careful packing the eggs.

A nationwide rocket challenge for 7th-12th graders! $60,000 dollars in prizes! Rockets, money, and travel - what more can you want?

TARC News:

Wind up your clock and start the countdown! The Huntsville Area Rocketry Association (HARA), in cooperation with Space Camp, will be resuming the Team America Rocketry Challenge (TARC) training and mentoring class at the Educator Resource Center (ERC) on Thursday, September 5 at 6:30 pm. This year’s competition is going to be tricky, but HARA knows the tricks. Join us as we map out this year of strategy and testing!

All students, teachers and parents are welcome to come find out about TARC and how to begin designing, building and launching model rockets. This rocketry class will continue to meet once a month on first Thursdays.
