Activities & Schedule

Activities

To help maximize your enjoyment, HARA wants to organize a couple of special events that you can take part in.

NAR Rocket Launch

Saturday’s launch will be a NAR launch day. Both NAR and TRA members are allowed to fly, but only commercially certified motors may be flow. If you are not a member of NAR or TRA, no worries. But please review the safety codes here.

NAR High Power Safety Code

Experimental Rocket Launch

Sundays launch will be a TRA launch day. Some restrictions will apply to non-TRA, non-NAR members, and children under 18. Please review section 7.2 of the TRA research launch rules regarding participation.

Food & Drink Vending

Our local Boy Scout troop will be on site both Saturday and Sunday grilling up some goodness. Hamburgers, hotdogs, a variety of potato chips and other snacks, as well as a selection of sodas, and bottle water. Your purchases help pay the troops way to summer scout camp so “do a good turn daily” and get lunch from the scouts. Cash only so “be prepared”.

100 Rocket Salute

Want to have a lot of fun with mod-rocs? We’ve got just the thing. How about launching 100 rockets simultaneously. On Saturday, HARA will set up a launch pad system that can launch up to 100 rockets. Many of our HARA members have offered to sponsor a dozen or so rockets, so we are well on our way. We want you to help provide some of the rockets. Any rocket kit you like that can use an 18mm motor like an Estes A-8 or C-6.

NASA Activities Tent

NASA and the Marshall Space Flight Center strive to help maintain a strong American education system. They pursue this goal by nurturing students’ interest in mathematics and science from elementary school through their college years, and by encouraging young people to consider careers in engineering and the aerospace industry.  The Marshall Space Flight Center ERC offers expertise and facilities to help educators access and use science, mathematics and technology instructional materials. The ERC provides in-service and pre-service educator training using NASA curriculum support products. The ERC also partners with local, state and regional organizations to become part of systemic educational initiatives.

Movie On The Field

Bring your lawn chairs or blankets and enjoy a family friendly movie.  HARA wants to show you and the kids a good time. Just after dusk on Saturday, we will start a movie.  Either The Dish, October Sky, The Astronaut Farmer, or an IMAX film like Hubble. No charge.
